Film inspiration

I have decided to study the opening of 3 films, as I am planning to film an action/thriller/crime film I have chosen these movie openings carefully and specifically.

Blade (1998)
The opening scene begins in a club, while the credits roll. Then the attention focuses onto a man who is obviously an outcast inside this mysterious club. Suddenly, blood spills down from the ceilings while the other clubbers roar in enjoyment, this is when we know something is wrong and it creates a sense of horror. Then there is a silence when Blade walks through the door, the action in the club stops, and this is when the fighting begins. Blade then kills the vampire manager of the club and suddenly disappears, and this sets the story for the whole movie.

Casino Royale
The film starts with a character walking into a dark room, the music builds up tension as if something is about to happen. There is James Bond sitting in the chair but the other man tries to fire a gun, but the cartridge has been emptied by Bond. It cuts to the flashback of James Bond drowning him in a sink, then it cuts back to reality and this is when Bond shoots the man dead – this is where the title music kicks in.

Oceans Eleven
The film begins in an interrogation room, where we meet the main character who is just about to be released from prison. The question is asked ‘What will you do if you’re released’ which is when we learn a bit more about the characters life and aspirations.
