My Style Model

After gathering all the answers on my questionnaire I decided that the results showed me that I should do a magazine in the same mould of KERRANG!. My audience told me that that :
1. Most would pay around £2.00 for a music magazine
2. Most of them would prefer a music magazine that is sold weekly
3. The most popular music magazine amongst them was KERRANG!.
4. Rock music was the most popular genre
5. Female artist's at the front of the magazine are slightly more appealing than males.
From my audiences response I could clearly see that KERRANG! was the most desirable magazine for my age group and so I made my definite decision that KERRANG! would be used as a style model for my work. A front cover I decided that I would like to base my magazine on is this one, the front medium close up of Hayley Williams is really effective as she is giving full direct audience address within her pose, this is very important for a good front cover. The style in which the picture is done is also extremely effective since what she is wearing blends in superbly with the over all colour scheme of the magazine, this is something I will try to implement into my magazine. Another thing which typifies KERRANG! front covers is the use of a quirky pose that Hayley Williams is using, most artists on KERRANG! do this and if I am using it as a style model then it's important I do this too. The magazines layout is quite simple but a use of pivotal key features make it work well, the colour scheme is simple yet very eye-catching which means that it's not boring and keeps the reader interested. Another feature is the use of a bar at the top and bottom of the page which allows snippets of information to be displayed and hardly takes up a lot of room allowing you to get down a lot within a short space; this is something that I will defiantly use within my work. Finally the use of space is excellent as there is very few gaps in the page and where their was, it has been covered well by information. Overall this is what I will base my front cover on as I like the various effects used within it, this doesn't mean I will copy it like for like however as there are various ideas of my own that I want to implement in to my work, that should combine well with my style model.
