Research - Wish FM

Wish FM takes it's name from the initials of Wigan and Saint Helens, where the independant radio station is broadcasted to, from Billinge Hill at a frequency of 102.4FM.

It was first aired on 1st April 1997, and currently has a studio based in Orrell in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan.

Audience Data for February 2009 to December 2009.
TSA: This radio station broadcast to a survey area of 464,000 adults (aged 15+)
Reach: It was listened to by 86,000 people (19%) each week.
Hours: Each listener tuned in for 6.3 hours per week - a total of 540,000.
Share: In it's area, it had a 6.3% market share.



Wish FM collaborates with the rugby league teams St Helens RLFC and Wigan Warriors, as well as football club Wigan Athletic. At 7pm on weekday evenings Wish FM joins with UTV stations Imagine FM, Tower FM, Radio Wave 96.5, The Pulse Of West Yorkshire and Signal 2 for a shared evening programme.

Wish FM is generally for a middle aged audience however there are many different people of all ages who listen to the station. Throughout the week, the radio schedule is on 24/7, but ast the weekends they stop broadcasting at 1am on a Saturday morning and starts again at 2am. Like Radio City, the presenters have their own style of music and appeal to different audiences.
