7. Preliminary Magazine Front Cover

The Masthead

'College Weekly' is the title of the magazine, the font of my masthead doesn't stand out as well as it could, so from this I have leart to make it bigger and more bold. The light blue colour also fades in with the background photograph which isn't good.

The Image

If you look closer at the image you can see me in the reflection of the window, taking the photograph, I tried to edit this on 'Adobe Photoshop CS4', however it didn't work, therefore I won't be doing this in my final magazine. The image also has a 'no smoking' sign in the background, which makes it look cheaply made and unprofessional.

Main Story

There is a main story about recycling, which the target audience probably wouldn't be interested in. Also, there are only two featured stories on the front cover, therefore it doesn't look jam packed and someone wouldn't want to purchase this magazine because other magazines would probably have more information. The fonts are also very basic, they could stand out more.

Layout

The layout is okay as it doesnt cover the model's body or face, however the text covers the recycling bin a bit, which makes it illegible. Also I have learnt that I will need to control my colour scheme more when I do my final magazine, I think that I will use a red, white and black colours.
