PresentersWe used a mix of male and female presenters in our broadcast. Our main presenters are Sian and Jordan:

Gender

In terms of gender we generally keep a neutral position as we do not want to segregate male and female listeners. We have both male and female presenters and report on stories that are not gender specific. It could be argued that the sport section of our broadcast is aimed towards males as it has a male presenter and also only focuses on football which is a predominantly male sport.
Class
Our broadcast does not target any particular class but as it is aired in the northwest (which is predominantly working class) it tends to focus on local, working class issues.
Race
None of our news stories focus on any particular ethnicity but at the same time we have not included any reports relating to different cultures or religions. Our stories relate mainly to both local and national current British issues.
Age
Although we are both students I believe that our broadcast appeals to a more mature audience as it involves stories that many adolescents may not take interest in (such as the traffic report). Whilst our news bulletin may be more suitable to adults we still incorporated issues affecting students such as the rise in tuition fees and also tried to make some areas of the news more informal (such as the angry caller phoning the studio from the M6) to keep the broadcast fresh and less serious.
Stereotypes
For our sports section we use a male presenter and report on football, which is a male dominant sport. This could be viewed as stereotypical as it suggests that only males are interested in sport when in fact there are many women's sports to report on also.
